ANPI Umbria Orvieto: Shlomo Venezia, a survivor of Auschwitz, the students met on Monday 22 March





Orvieto meeting promoted discussion, the students of Liceo Classico Orvieto, with Shlomo Venezia, who survived internment in a concentration camp Nazi Auschwitz-Birkenau. During his captivity he was forced to work in the Sonderkommando, special teams, made up of inmates, the operations for the cremation and disposal of the bodies of the deportees were killed in gas chambers. These teams were regularly killed in order to keep the secret of the existence of extermination camps and the "final solution" of the Jewish question. Shlomo Venezia is one of the few survivors of these special teams and collected his memoirs in a book published in October 2007 entitled Auschwitz Sonderkommando.

The meeting, which was sponsored by the City of Orvieto, will be held at Orvieto, the Palazzo dei Congressi - Sala dei Fifteenth Monday, March 22 at 11:00 am and is open to all.
